The Lake County Board of Supervisors has appointed Philip Moy as Director of Lake County Water Resources effective January 3, 2017
The Water Resources Department oversees Lakebed Management (swim lines, regulatory buoys, lighted navigation aids and an annual aquatic weed abatement program), Flood Corridor Property Maintenance (Middle Creek Flood Damage Reduction and Ecosystem Restoration Project) Flood Control Zones 1, 4, 8 (maintenance and operation of dams and levees) and the Watershed Protection District (Quagga Mussel Prevention Program, National Flood Insurance Program and more).

Director Moy hails from the Midwest, and most recently from Washington State where he served as Chief Scientist for a biological research program.  He also worked as Assistant Director for Research and Outreach for the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant Institute and as Fisheries Biologist for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District.  Moy has a Doctorate in Fisheries-Zoology.

Early in Fiscal Year 2016-2017, the Board took action to make Water Resources a free-standing department and the search for a director ensued.  According to Jeff Smith, Lake County’s 2nd District Supervisor and Board of Supervisors Chair for 2017, the Board is very pleased to have secured the services of Phil Moy and looks forward to working with him.

The Lake County Department of Water Resources can be reached at 707-263-2344.
