Smart Meters are coming

Smart-meters

We had a great meeting April 20 with a PG&E presentation from their Smart Meter Department.  The company sent their expert presentor Austin Sharp PGE and their government relations rep Justin Real. It was a

great presentation with a nice question and answer segment.  Members found out that there is more radiation and radio waves coming from our cell phones or televisions than from the new meters.  Many of the problems have been worked out and the company has been proactive in getting them resolved.  If you do not want special rates, you may opt out and just have a regular rate schedule that does not fluctuate with high usage times.  If you do not want a smart meter due to personal views or health reasons like a pace maker, you may opt as well but you will be charged a meter reading fee as a person will have to physically come to your property rather than PG&E receiving radio wave readings in the office.  They will not come through a gate without permission but will put a meter up that is not in an enclosed area on a property.

Our bylaws were also passed, so we don't have to worry about that until next year.

We also donated $500 towards the fantastic ad going into Sunset Magazine that features beautiful Clear Lake.
